PRESENTATION

Marcfix is an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic which has marked in-vitro bactericidal activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Although cefixime is fairly stable to beta-lactamases, it may still be inactivated by B-lactamase produced by Streptomyces clavuligerus, a potent inhibitor of a number of different types of B-lactamases, at low concentrations. Thus, clavulanic acid inactivates B-lactamases preventing destruction of cefixime.

DOSAGE:  Adult: 650mg single dose or 325mg in divided dose.

Children: 6 months to 12 years; 8mg/kg daily as single dose or 4mg/kg in divided dose.

NOT RECOMMENDED BELOW 6 MONTHS
